The film features interviews with assistant language teachers (ALTs) in Towada and neighboring areas, who humorously talk about the culture gap and daily difficulties in Japan, interspersed with the narrative of Ranald MacDonald, the first American to visit Japan in 1848 and engage in English education.
MacDonald becomes a character figure of a global company and overlaps with them through the ages. While suggesting the mightiness of the English language and its cultural and economic sphere, the richness of each of their lives, their joys and sorrows are expressed.
