This video work documents the changes in the distance between people and the crowds viewing the fireworks during the period of self-restraint and the resumption of the fireworks festival.
It is positioned as a sequel to the previous work Bubble (2021). The “new normal” advocated during the pandemic created a situation in which people felt a strong need to maintain physical distance, while at the same time seeking emotional connection, a situation that was reversed from the norm. The exhibition “touch” (2021), in which Bubble was exhibited, was titled in response to the situation where the touch of the everyday has become scarce under the declaration of a state of emergency.
One year after Corona virus's transition to the 5th category, we wonder how our sense of distance from the world we live in will change in “everyday life as it was”.
